This course provides an overview of the different classes of substances and how those substances impact the brain. Neuroanatomy and neurophysiology will be explored. Students will learn an integrative approach to assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and interventions for substance use disorders. This course will examine issues related to substance use disorders for both individuals and family systems. The course will use a family systems perspective.
