CWR 101 - Creative Writing Seminar (0 ) UG
Faculty-led seminar. Various topics and activities include the following: degree planning, internships, publication and contest opportunities, opening and using a Submittable account, required readings for writers, book talks, rising junior portfolios, senior capstone projects, student leadership opportunities, community-building activities, field trips, study abroad opportunities, applying to graduate schools, visiting writer opportunities, public readings, literary events, social events, and good citizenship for writers.
The course will meet monthly each semester. Students must attend four out of five meetings in order to receive a Satisfactory grade in the course. Double majors with conflicting obligations may receive “excused absences” only with the approval of the Chair of Creative Writing. Excessive absences and failure of course will be addressed on an individual basis and may include additional written research assignments addressing missed topics. Receiving an Unsatisfactory grade in the course more than two times during pursuit of the BFA in Creative Writing could result in suspension from the writing program. Yearly Cycle Every year
