REA 632 - The Teaching of Reading (K-12): Capstone (3 ) GR
Focus on practical, field-based applications that yield effective teaching and assessment techniques, integrate research into reading instruction, and employ instructional methodologies aimed at promoting reading progress and preventing reading difficulties among diverse student populations. Develop an in-depth understanding of the role of diagnostic assessments in selection of strategies in reading instruction that match a child’s individual needs, thereby becoming adept at diagnosis and remediation of students with reading difficulties through directed field experiences, candidates engage in hands-on application of theoretical knowledge, honing skills in designing and implementing targeted interventions to support literacy development. Passing the Foundations of Reading test is a requirement for completing the Reading Literacy degree program and graduating, as is a GPA of 3.0+. Type of PRE-REQ Complete 27 credits of Graduate Education Courses. Previous Enrollment Required in EDU, 600, REA 604, 605, 611, 617, 622, 627 and 629.
