This course provides the foundation for the nurse’s role to provide care ranging from the young adult to the aging adult population of clients experiencing common medical surgical alterations. Emphasis is placed on the knowledge and skills needed to provide safe, quality care within the scope of nursing. This course provides the theoretical foundation for basic assessment and nursing skills which provides the learner an opportunity to develop and demonstrate the skills in a clinical laboratory setting and to practice within a healthcare and/or community setting.
