LDS 394 - Leadership Theory & Practice (3 ) UG
This is the first of three leadership courses that prepare students for culture-shaping leadership. Leadership Theory and Practice seeks to (1) give students a thorough understanding of the history of leadership, (2) prepare students to analyze their own leadership gifts, and (3) move students from theory to practice in effective leadership with practical life-management skills. The theme of “stewardship” runs throughout the entire first course. Scripture says that human beings were designed in God’s image to be fruitful and multiply, fill and subdue the earth, and rule over creation. By developing a mental model for the course based on the sequence of creation, fall, and redemption, students will learn what the created stewardship aspect was designed to be, how humans abuse and abandon stewardship in their fallenness, and how stewardship might be redeemed in today’s society to enable human beings to lead productively based on God’s design.
