EDU 675 - Literacy Leadership (3 ) GR
NOTE: This course is taken after EDU 677 so that the Action Plan written in EDU 677 can be implemented.
Gain understanding of the necessity for evaluating strategies used by teachers to assess reading and writing instruction. Understand tools to use for informed selection of materials and assessment techniques, as well as for determing which best-practice instructional strategies to cultivate for literacy development so teachers can recognize improvement in student outcomes. Learn how to examine available assessment data for use in the decision-making process and how to develop professional learning opportunities for teachers so that instructional strategies employed will reflect current research, student academic need as demonstrated in the classroom, and best practices, thereby yielding positive results on assessments.
This course addresses Standards 1-7 of the NELP Standards as the standards are integrated and synthesized during the course of a candidate’s plan of study. PRE-REQ REQ or RECOMMENDED: Petition required from Department Chair
