This Teacher Residency is one of two semester-long courses that significantly emphasize applying educational principles and theories through immersive, full-time experiences as a teacher of record in a classroom setting. It’s crucial to note that this course spans a full semester, differing from the seven-week format of previous program courses. See the prerequisite requirements.
Type of PRE-REQ Prerequisites: To enroll in this course, teacher candidates must have their Mississppi Department of Education (MDE) Alternate Route Three-Year Teacher License and provide a contract or a letter confirming a full-time teaching position in an approved MDE school. All Teacher Residencies are to take place a Mississippi school, no out-of-state resideniceis are permitted. As part of the enrollment process, candidates must submit a signed petition for approval from the Graduate School of Education Chair.
PRE-REQ REQ or RECOMMENDED: As part of the enrollment process, candidates must submit a signed petition for approval from the Graduate School of Education Chair. Candidates are required to hold a MS 3 Year Alternate Route Teacher License and have a teaching contract in a MS school.
