Designed to teach the fundamentals of book history, printing methods, publication design, book production, and book distribution. For instruction, the class will rely on various textbooks and documentary videos covering the history of written communication, printing, and bookmaking. Students will be graded on their mastery of knowledge regarding book history and on completion of bookmaking projects, including illuminated manuscripts, manual typeset manuscripts, and binding techniques. Limited to 20 students.
