TEL 615 - Principles of Linguistics and Modern Cultures (3 )

GR

In this course, the relationship between language and its effects on culture will be explored by applying the principles of linguistics to its interdependency with the world’s modern cultures.  Candidates will integrate their knowledge of the theoretical frameworks of the world’s languages with an in-depth examination of how language and culture rely on each other and how events and experiences within a culture are expressed through language.  This course ensures that candidates can effectively analyze the elements of the world’s languages: phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, lexicography, pragmatics, and discourse analysis and express them proficiently.
